Dear Prospective Colleagues,
Welcome to Üsküdar American Academy (UAA). Since opening our doors in 1876 as an all-girls’ school, we have grown into one of Türkiye’s most respected co-educational institutions, serving more than 900 students between the ages of 14 and 18. UAA is proud to be part of the SEV (Health and Education) Foundation, alongside other distinguished schools, including American Collegiate Institute in Izmir, SEV American College in Istanbul, Tarsus American College, and a network of thriving primary and middle schools.
For nearly 150 years, UAA has stood for more than academic success. We are committed to developing thoughtful, ethical, and globally minded young people who are confident in their abilities, curious about the world, and compassionate in their actions. We aim to prepare students not only for university but for life—helping them grow into leaders and citizens who make a positive impact on their communities.
Our academic program is both rigorous and broad. We offer the Turkish national curriculum together with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, supported by a strong tradition of bilingual education. Every student begins with a year of intensive English study before entering high school, ensuring they are ready to thrive in a multicultural and collaborative learning environment. UAA holds accreditation from the Turkish Ministry of Education and the Council of International Schools (CIS) and is authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization.
Life at UAA extends well beyond the classroom. With more than 90 student-led clubs in Turkish and English, a vibrant culture of service, and countless opportunities in the arts, sciences, and athletics, our students are encouraged to discover their passions and take initiative. Leadership, community engagement, and responsibility are not simply ideals here—they are part of daily school life.
Our graduates leave UAA exceptionally well-prepared for the future. Each year, around 70% continue their education abroad, while others achieve outstanding success in Türkiye. Alumni have gone on to leading universities such as Oxford, Yale, Princeton, Harvard, and the University of Pennsylvania, pursuing studies in fields from engineering and law to medicine and the humanities.
Central to our success is our faculty. UAA teachers are accomplished, collaborative, and innovative educators from both Türkiye and abroad. More than instructors, they are mentors who challenge students to think deeply, inspire them to aim high, and support them in becoming their best selves.
If you are passionate about teaching, eager to join a diverse and dynamic community, and ready to make a lasting difference in the lives of young people, we encourage you to explore our open positions. We look forward to welcoming new colleagues who will share in the UAA tradition of excellence.
Warm regards,
Cory Carson
