ANDREW LEATHWOOD

Do you want a wonderful adventure? Then come work at one of the Tarsus schools – Tarsus American College, Tarsus SEV Middle School or Tarsus SEV Elementary School. All are world class schools and we serve an exceptional clientele. The schools share a beautiful dual campus – an older garden like setting highlighted by the historic Stickler Building (build of stone by students and faculty in the 1920’s) and a new part of the campus (three years old) with our elementary school, five-star dorms and cafeteria and auditorium complex. The campus has recently won two architectural awards, including being voted as one of the thirteen most beautiful campuses in the world. We have excellent facilities, including three gymnasia, a fully equipped workout center and a state of the art theatre.

We are Turkish National Schools, following the rigorous Turkish education program, with the IBDP an option in Grades 11 and 12. All of our students are Turkish and all are planning on attending a good university, in Turkey or abroad.

The vision of the schools is one of unparalleled excellence, valued by all. We follow through on that vision throughout the schools with strong academics, fine arts and athletic programs. We have a strong faculty, with a blend of foreign (normally from the US, Canada or the UK) and native Turkish teachers. Our students do well – over 70% of them qualify to enter the high school through a national entrance exam and our high school graduates attend some of the finest universities.

Community service is an essential part of our life here and all students take part in community service activities as do our teachers.

Tarsus itself is a small very historical city (has had the same name for 6500) years so if a person is interested in history and ruins this is the place to come. We are a short train ride to two modern cities – Adana and Mersin (right on the sea). Foreign faculty live on campus and have lodging, internet and utilities supplied free of charge. Living can be described as easy in Tarsus – no traffic with everything you need within walking distance. Travel to such world class sites as the Cyprus, the Mediterranean Coast and Cappadocia is a few hour drive and it is easy to get anywhere in Turkey or Europe for a long weekend. Food is GREAT!! And the people are friendly.

I have been the Head of School here for almost three years now and see living and working here as a tremendous privilege!

Come join us!!
